{"id":347,"date":"2025-01-07T14:19:37","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T15:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/durkins.net\/?p=347"},"modified":"2025-01-08T17:39:00","modified_gmt":"2025-01-08T17:39:00","slug":"microplastic-solutions-win-twcs-tech-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/durkins.net\/index.php\/2025\/01\/07\/microplastic-solutions-win-twcs-tech-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Microplastic Solutions Win TWC\u2019s Tech Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Milwaukee, WI, Jan. 7, 2025 \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>The Water Council is pleased to announce the winners of our fall 2024&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thewatercouncil.com\/programs\/tech-challenge\/\">Tech Challenge<\/a>, chosen by our participating sponsors to help solve real challenges in the water sector.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe Water Council\u2019s Tech Challenge connects water innovators with leading water technology companies, facilitating potential partnerships and helping new ideas and technologies gain exposure in the industry. The fall 2024 challenge sought solutions for the detection,&nbsp;treatment and removal of microplastics and nanoplastics.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nWinners were selected from dozens of submissions from an astonishing 11 countries. The challenge\u2019s sponsors,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aosmith.com\/\">A. O. Smith Corporation<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.badgermeter.com\/\">Badger Meter<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.watts.com\/\">Watts Water Technologies<\/a>, chose the challenge topics and selected the winners to receive $10,000 prizes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lucendi.org\/\">Lucendi, Inc.<\/a>, based in Los Angeles, Calif., was selected for the microplastics detection category. The company develops AI-powered innovations for high-performance detection and characterization of micro-objects in liquids. Its Aqusens platform has been shown to automatically identify a variety of targets from microplastics to harmful organisms like giardia, cyanobacteria and toxic algae.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/polygonesystems.com\/\">PolyGone Systems<\/a>, based in Princeton, N.J., was selected for the microplastics treatment and removal category.
